Head of Operations

Key to our success is the smooth running of Operations at Kesson Physiotherapy. Head of those Operations can be hard work but it is extremely rewarding, with demonstrable results and a real impact on our business outcomes.

The Head of Operations role is split into five key areas: people, core operations, budgets, project delivery and strategy.   They are responsible for managing a team of people, which involves both the engagement and development of these people.

Part of the core Operations responsibilities include resourcing, recruitment and financial processes, such as invoicing. There are budgeting aspects of the role, in which the Head of Operations must manage margins, costs, budgeting and forecasting. Project delivery functions include delivery assurance, quality assurance, client delivery and relationship management; while strategy responsibilities lie in ops plans and strategy support.

Career prospects for an operations manager are good, thanks to the holistic nature of the role and the experience available.

The Head of Operations ensures that key performance indicators (KPIs) are in place and service delivery targets are met. Their key objective is to make sure that all our staff have everything they need to complete the roles we set them. In addition the Head of Operations responsibilities include:

  • Managing stock control and inventory checks.
  • Having a keen eye on budgets and budgetary changes.
  • Ensuring that health and safety regulations are followed.
  • Creating and monitoring projects and teams.
  • Reviewing workloads and resource levels to ensure targets are met.
  • Supporting the Management Teams vision and process ideals.
  • Ensuring staff are happy and operating efficiently.
  • Supporting all functions of the business to work together.

The effective management of our Operations is about organisation, efficiency and diligence. Processes are also integral to our business, allowing us to be more productive, freeing up our team members while providing reassurance that the job are getting done. The Head of Operations is responsible for our processes being followed and that teams are enabled to continuously improve these processes.

Also important are excellent communication skills. The Head of Operations is comfortable communicating on different levels with different types of people. They are constantly having to look to deliver change so they need to be practical and innovative and constantly questioning our teams.
