PHYSIOTHERAPY

WHAT TO EXPECT

Once your first appointment is booked, you will be sent confirmation details and a welcome pack. Please arrive at least 10 minutes early for the first appointment to complete a registration form and medical checklist. You can enjoy a complimentary drink in our reception area while you wait for your Therapist.

Your appointment last 30 minutes. First off, your injury will be assessed. You will then receive an initial diagnosis as well as an explanation of your recovery plan, followed by expert treatment. Your rehabilitation journey has begun.

In order for your injury to be fully assessed and/or treated by your Therapist, you may need to undress. Please wear well fitting underwear or bring a pair of shorts. If you feel more comfortable, you may be accompanied by a relative or friend.

At the end of your session, you will be handed over to our Reception team to arrange any further appointments.

LIFE STORIES

John

John worked hard on his rehab to reduce his knee pain and improve his running, going on to complete an ultra-marathon!

“I had pain and restricted movement in my knees for years. I was diagnosed with muscle weakness in my hips and thighs, causing strain on my knees. I enjoy running so found it rather depressing to keep getting injured.

Kesson Physio made me focus on strengthening my hip and thigh muscles as well as leg stretches. I now run longer distances with less discomfort and pain. In the ultra-marathon I was able to run for 40 miles which is a massive improvement!”

Jenny

Jenny initially coped with arthritic knees until pain in her back and hips became overwhelming, brought on by poor gait.

“I was scared, facing partial knee replacements in both knees. I spoke to Kesson Physio about my fears; they were brilliant. Two things they said still bring me comfort. Firstly ‘The pain I have now will only get worse; the pain post-op will only get better.’ And then afterwards they said ‘Every week we’ll help you to do more than you could do the week before.’ Their exercises help ensure a speedy recovery. I trust them so I am willing to do more even if it hurts. I still feel anxious, but I am no longer scared, and I no longer feel alone.”

Mark

Be inspired by Mark’s story – a diagnosis should not define who you are or what you are capable of!

“I have cerebral palsy which affects my ability to walk, as well as my strength, endurance, gait and balance. Working with Kesson Physio over many years, we focus on stretching, maintaining mobility and building strength. Acupuncture for pain relief is very effective despite my initial cynicism. Weekly spin classes help strengthen my legs, plus improved cardio fitness and weight loss. I am determined to stay working and walking as long as possible and I feel positive about the future.”
